Hmm...I think, with practice, I could learn to make a decent gravy. *nods*

OHGODOHGODOHGOD *rubs entire bottle of Vicks Vapor Rub under nose* How. HOW did I reach 33 years of life without ONCE hearing how bad lamb stinks when cooking? It's not palatable (to me) either, but GOOD GOD the STENCH! My apartment smells like a pasture now!

I had to call my dad and tell him. He just died laughing and said when me and my siblings were babies, mom would try to feed us lamb baby food and we'd retch. Not spit it out--RETCH. Said his nieces did the same thing.

Oh well, at least I'm only out 2 bucks. Thank goodness for clearance "eat it now" meat.

Ignore the fact that this is a Kingdom Hearts fanvid. I'm posting this for the song.

I am seriously starting to love this artist. ♥ ♥ ♥

And Mordred's Lullaby, also lovely, but got Bree started on an anti-Arthurian rant that lasted 2 days. -_-;;

Today is Make Your Own Damn Pizza Day.

I got a box of Jiffy pizza crust mix (49 cents, woot!) and as an experiment mixed in a bit of garlic powder, basil and oregano. In hindsight I could have mixed in some parmesan too, but oh well. S'already rising now.

I also have a nice jar of ready made pizza sauce, and I'm debating adding added in a tiny bit of ground red pepper. I lika my sauce a-spicy! Other than that, it's just a cheese pizza. Kroger sells their brand of pizza cheese, which is just a shredded mix of mozzerella, smoked provolone, romano and parmesan cheeses. Very good stuff. If I'd thought about it while I was at Walmart this morning, I could have grabbed some pepperoni sticks. See, I don't like pepperoni SLICES. For once, you never successfully bite through a piece and end up dragging half the molten lava cheese onto your chin and burning the hell out of yourself. The sticks I can chop into little squares like you get on the cheap store-brand pizzas that NO ONE CARRIES ANYMORE DAMMIT!!!

Pizza's in the oven! :D I think I'm going to end up with a thick-ass crust. I just wouldn't spread to 12 or 14-inch diameter. But I like crust, so good!

So my nano this year appears to be revolving around a girl and her spider. It was bound to happen. Ever since the spider macros have started popping up, I've gotten more and more enthralled by the beady little eyes of jumping spiders everywhere. They're fuzzy and they kinda have puppy eyes. Very weird.

Writing about spiders means researching keeping spiders, and this morning I was looking at this one website that had all the popular tarantula types. And for a good ten minutes I was actually contemplating getting one.

Okay cut, stop, that's it. There must be a line drawn and I need to be on the side that has no pet tarantulas. What the hell would I do with a spider?? Yes, fascinating to look at, but I'd still never touch one. I do not need a pet I'm too scared to handle. It's why I don't have large snakes either.

It's fine. I'll just cuddle my plushie spider. He's soft and cute and far less fangy. :p

My friend has had a very shit week. I'm very bad at comfort words, but very good at comfort food. She loves peanut butter cookies, so I found a recipe and voila!

...holy crap, those are ugly cookies )

Ooookay. Just dropping the dough makes ugly, redheaded stepchildren cookies. I should roll them into balls and THEN flatten them!

Yeah. MUCH better. )

Yay! Cookies! And my house smells of peanut butter. I'm not all that fond of peanut butter, but dammit my friend needs cookies! >:0

Since we are dressing up at work this Friday, I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with something easy. Something finally came to mind.

I already have a cute hooded sweater and a neat pair of red-and-black checked sneakers. Now all I need are red leg warmers, some red mittens, a red scarf, a pair of red ear muffs if I can find some and a pair of red devil horns and a tail.

I'm going as Hell Froze Over. :D

EDIT: Well, unless I think of something to do on actual Halloween, I guess I won't dress up at all. We're not dressing up at work this year. *sadface*

But I only have two more episodes of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood before I'm all caught up!

...I gotta quit with these marathons. -_-

EDIT: ...GODDAMN RECAP EPISODES! I hate you so!

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant. Should I go see it tomorrow, Y/N?

It has Selma Hayek in it, which makes me lean toward it a bit. >:3 Also John C. Reilly. The trailers however make me think that you just saw all the funny and/or interesting bits. I have a gift card I'm using up and the first show of the day is only $5, so I'm not out any of my own money to see it...but I dunno. I think this is a Wait-For-DVD-and-the-Redbox movie.

I should go see Zombieland again. :D

Today's lunch is Cottage Loaf, mashed potatoes and sweet corn. The loaf is a sort-of experiment. I didn't have enough seasoned bread crumbs, which were also an experiment when I first started making it ten years ago, so I used plain bread crumbs and added a teaspoon of All Purpose. I also bought a new loaf pan, which is bigger than my others and is a pan-inna-pan, with holes in the first to let the grease drain. I already love it.

Aaaand now it's later. The pan worked great. The all-purpose, not so much. Love the pan, must get more seasoned breadcrumbs for next meatloaf. I also need to learn to make mashed potatoes. Those were kinda tasteless. :(

Right, time to find another movie to watch. I just don't know what I'm in the mood for. :-/

See these sleeves?

I'm looking for a pattern for big-ass bell sleeves like this. At least, I'm guessing these are still called bell sleeves. The internet and I are having a disagreement over what bell sleeves are. This site refers to them as "full sleeves", but I have no idea whether that's their name for them or what.

Basically I'm trying to figure out next year's costume. What I want is to do a glamour demon-type thing. I found some neat horns, and I want to get novelty contacts, except I can't find prescription yellow cat eye lenses. And my glasses kinda ruin the effect. Unless I want to do demon librarian instead. Which could be hot. *ponders* Crap, now I'm thinking how much easier a demon librarian would be. I could carry around a Necronomicon and still do my hair up in cat ear twists. I wouldn't get to do glamour make-up, but I suck at that sort of thing anyway. Hmmmm.

...I still need a bell-sleeve (or full sleeve, whatever) pattern though. ^_^

I think I may walk over to the library when it opens and see if I can find some good quilting-for-beginners books. I'm in the mood to learn something new and crafty. Especially since knitting just did not work out. Yarn and I just don't get along so well. I have to accept that and move on. Besides, I can't find a quilt in colors I like, so why not just give up and make my own? I have a sewing machine! My SIL has a quilting rack that she'd probably let me use. I've expressed an interest in quilting before and she went "Hey, come get my stuff. I don't use it anymore."

Maybe I'll take Stone with me. If it's quiet enough in there, I can maybe get some writing done. Since I'm going back to the Wild Queen, the consorts showed up and got all noisy. Some are different and I wish to poke at them to see how much so. :D Barring that, I'd like to do some Aerael fic. Poor dear is so neglected. :(

An Evening With Kevin Smith just doesn't stop being funny. This has to be the hundredth time I've watched it, and I'm still sitting here giggling. Yet I didn't care for the second one. I guess he used up all his good stories on the first one.
